Brian F. Blake (’84 M.B.A.), Sammamish, Wash., is relocating to the Dallas area to accept a position as the assistant administrator of investments for the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System.

Charles R. Swadley (’85 M.A.), Shawnee, Okla., won the Hadsell Award for excellence in research from the University of Oklahoma Department of English, where he is pursuing a doctoral degree in composition, rhetoric and literacy. He has taught English and Spanish at Oklahoma Baptist University since 1997.

Alex L. Tijerina, San Antonio, and his wife, Nancy, have adopted their second child from South Korea. Steven, who arrived last year at 4 1/2 months old, joins 4-year-old Michael.

Laura L. Wright (M.S.), Coppell, was promoted to vice president of finance at Southwest Airlines and continues to serve as treasurer. Wright joined Southwest in 1988.

Gary W. Orr (M.B.A.), Denton, was promoted to Houston president for Comerica Bank-Texas. He has been with the company for 12 years and has served on the bank’s executive team since 1997.

Jerry D. Thompson, Georgetown, president of LeaseBanc, has been involved in volunteer work in Honduras since 1991. In 1999 he and his wife founded Special Missions, an Internet-based nonprofit organization focusing on health, education and community projects in Honduras.

Steven C. Hartung (M.B.A.), Garland, was promoted to vice president of Security Bank. He joined the company in 1999 as a senior credit analyst.

Janette Bradley (’91 M.B.A., ’97 Ph.D.), Lowell, Mass., was named one of the Top 25 Women on the Web by the San Francisco Women on the Web. Bradley is the director of AvidProNet, a web site for media creation professionals.

Gregory D. Cooke, Monument, Colo., is vice president of sales and partner development for TeamShare Inc., a software company specializing in the development of web-based workflow management tools.

Gregory T. Cox, Plantation, Fla., is employed as a software engineer and is the founder of The Lemon Club, a dot-com company that publishes apartment ratings based on tenants’ experiences.

Catherine R. Fowler
, Burbank, Calif., was promoted to vice president of sales at Konami of America. She joined Konami in 1999 after working at Mattel Media for four years.

Christopher G. Gilliam, Nampa, Idaho, and his wife, Christy, celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Syaira Christine Gilliam, on Feb. 27.

John Glenn Field (’91 M.S.), Garland, and his wife celebrated the birth of their first child, Presley Glynn Field, on Dec. 30. Field has served as president of Charity Sports Distributor Inc., specializing in sports autographs and custom framing, since August 2000.

Hans J. Hacker, Silver Spring, Md., earned a doctorate in political science from Ohio State University in December.

Beverly Reich Ivy, Flower Mound, has been hired by American Airlines as a pilot — her dream job, she says. She began her training with American in June.

Gary D. Swaim (M.Ed.), Irving, is the director for the North Lake Community Center for Writers at North Lake College in Irving. His drama Two to Waken Him, based on the life and death of Deitrich Bonhoeffer, was performed during the RTC Playwright’s Festival in California.

Ernest J. Kramer
(Ph.D.), Maryville, Mo., is an associate professor of music at Northwest Missouri State University. His book of piano solos, Romancing the Keys, has been published by Willis Music Co. The collection is Kramer’s third in the last four years.

Susan L. Stutzman, Virginia Beach, Va., married Harold Joseph Box Jr. on May 5. She is a corporate loss prevention/safety manager with the Navy Exchange Service Command in Virginia Beach.
