E. Nell Hoffman
(M.Ed.), Bedford, was honored with a Distinguished Alumna Medal of Service award in October at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.

Mary Beth Armes
(D.M.A.), Erie, Pa., has retired and returned to the United States after spending 20 years in Germany. She had contracts to coach opera in five theaters, where she also conducted and sang soprano roles.

Katherine Beggs Bailes
, Overland Park, Kan., was awarded a doctor of philosophy degree in mythological studies with an emphasis on depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in January. Her dissertation was titled "Mystery and Irrationality in the U.S. Legal System."

Tom Walker (M.M.), Stillwater, Okla., has been appointed associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University. He has served on the OSU music department faculty since 1981, teaching trombone, jazz studies and music technology.

Dorothea Annette Booth Jackson
(M.M.Ed.), Georgetown, is the head band director at Smith Middle School in Fort Hood. She is in her 20th year of band directing after recovering from a head-on collision last fall. Her oldest daughter, Sarah, is a TAMS graduate completing her degree at UNT.

Kenneth R. Ramirez, Austin, has been appointed to a federal advisory committee of the Environmental Protection Agency. A partner at Bracewell & Patterson LLP, he teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Law School.
