A concert, plays, games and a barn dance all took place. … Members of the industrial education class went to Dallas for an observation trip. They visited such sites as the Ford Assembly Plant and the National Casket Co.

Denton's mayor proclaimed Aug. 15 official Old Maid's Day in Denton, an event started by Dorothy Babb, Latin and English instructor. Statistics showed Denton was above average in that population, with 92 "spinsters" on the North Texas faculty alone. … Demolition of the old men's gym began in accordance with a policy to tear down all temporary buildings on campus that were no longer needed. The gym was built in 1919. … B.B. Harris, 66-year-old educator and a member of the North Texas community for 37 years, announced his retirement. Harris was a pioneer of the conservation education program.
