Overview


The College

The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest of 11 schools and colleges at the University of North Texas, offers graduate degrees in 16 academic departments. The college also has many professional or research centers and institutes. The 380 faculty members provide rich educational experiences for the more than 1,200 graduate students enrolled in 61 degree programs. These programs emphasize high-quality research opportunities and professional training for the college's graduate students.


Library system

The university libraries have extensive holdings of more than 5.8 million cataloged items, including more than 19,000 serials and 3.2 million microforms that support the various graduate programs. In addition, rich collections are readily available in several university and city libraries in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, including a regional center of the National Archives and Records Administration in Fort Worth.

Center for Collaborative Organizations (psychology)
Creates learning partnerships with industry, government and nonprofit organizations for generating, archiving and disseminating information about collaborative work systems including work teams. www.workteams.unt.edu

Center for Economic Education (economics)

Center for Environmental Archaeology (geography)

Center for Environmental Economic Studies and Research (economics)
Promotes, conducts and coordinates environmental economics research and complementary activities on the UNT Denton campus. The center investigates economic solutions to environmental problems and disseminates this research within and outside the discipline of economics. Center for Environmental Philosophy (philosophy and religion studies)
Encourages and supports workshops, conferences and other special projects, including postdoctoral research in the field of environmental ethics. Center for International Economic Studies and Research (economics)
Promotes research on economic problems in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America. Center for Network Neuroscience (biological sciences)
Focuses on in vitro preparations, especially monolayer cultures of mammalian central nervous system cells, and emphasizes research on pattern generation, storage and recognition. www.cnns.org

Center for Nonlinear Science (physics)

Center for Plant Lipid Research (biological sciences)
Seeks to understand through contemporary cellular, biochemical and molecular approaches how lipids influence the growth and development of plants.
