Frequently Asked Questions:
Q1 - Where do we park to run into the Union for a few minutes?
A2 - We have an arrangement with the operator of the parking garage to allow FREE parking for up to 30-minutes for an unlimited number of vehicles.
With the exception of certain times during the first week of classes when the garage reaches capacity, there should be adequate space available to allow vehicles
to use the FREE 30-minute parking. To receive this free 30 minutes of parking your permit must be validated at the Union Information booth on the 3rd floor.
Q2 - Is UNT going to build a parking garage soon?
A3 - We are currently evaluating the possibility of building a 1000 - 1400 space parking garage to be located off of West Sycamore between Avenue C and Avenue D.
Commuter students may also use the reduced-rate "General"
lot at the Bradley Street Apartments, as well as, the reduced-rate "General"
contract lot at Grace Temple Baptist Church. They may also purchase
a "Premium" parking permit to use the Welch Street lots.
Q3 - Is a parking permit required at the Research Park?
A4 - A valid UNT parking permit is required in all lots at the UNT Research Park. Lot designations are indicated by current parking signage. Parking meters are available
in Lot #2 at Research Park if you do not have a valid UNT parking permit. We have expanded parking in Research Park lots 3 & 4 to any valid permit. A free permit is available for these lots as well. Contact the Parking Office for more information at (940) 565-3020.
Q4 - What do I do for a citation I received that I think is unfair?
A6 - Broken meters should be reported to the Parking Office within 24 hours. Citations may be appealed through the Parking Office within 10 (ten) calendar days of issuance.
