APPLICABILITY: ALL REGULAR FACULTY AND STAFF

A state employee who is a person with a disability, as defined by Section 121.002, Human Resources Code, is entitled to a leave of absence with full pay for the purpose of attending a training program to acquaint the employee with an assistance dog to be used by the employee. The leave of absence provided by this policy may not exceed 10 working days in a fiscal year. The leave of absence provided by this policy is in addition to other leave to which an employee is entitled, and an employee continues to accrue vacation and sick leave while on leave as provided by the policy.
