SUBJECT: UNIVERSITY UNION

APPLICABILITY: TOTAL UNIVERSITY

SECTION EIGHTEEN - UNT Student Dances

  1. Reservations for dances may be made no more than thirty business days in advance. Reservations made less than ten business days in advance may jeopardize the ability to accommodate needs. Each organization will be limited to two dances per semester, pending availability of facilities.

  2. All student dances require an approved event application from Student Activities and Organizations.

  3. Deposits are due at the time of reservation.

  4. If all necessary paperwork and balances are not received by Verde Scheduling five business days in advance of the event, the event is subject to cancellation and loss of deposit.

  5. Security is required at all dances as outlined in the Student Activities and Organization event application. Security will be provided in accordance with University policy. Security will be on site until all guests and equipment leave the facility.

  6. Ticket sales are limited according to the capacity of the room reserved. Ticket prices must remain the same up to the end of the event.

  7. The Union will provide armbands for dances for a fee.

  8. The designated event monitors must make themselves known to the Union Facility Manager before the beginning of the event. All designated event monitors must meet with the Union Facility Manager one hour in advance of the event.

  9. Dances sponsored by registered student organizations will be billed at an hourly rate. Special fees will be assessed during holidays and other special times when the University is closed.

  10. Groups using a band or other live entertainment may provide their own sound system, including microphones, speakers and all other necessary equipment, with approval of the Union Technical Coordinator and the Union Maintenance Supervisor or sound amplification may be requested from the University Union. In this case, a University Union technician must operate the equipment. Under no circumstances can University Union sound equipment be used to supplement non-Union equipment.

  11. The user must remove all sound equipment, decorations, and other equipment within one hour following the event. A fee will be assessed to the sponsoring organization for each hour, or any part of an hour, in excess of the specified one hour load out allotment.
