PROMOTING HEALTH CAREERS

We provide information and resources about health professions for people of all ages --- pre-school through adult. We offer career fairs, classroom presentations, opportunities for mentorships, and job shadowing. We offer a program called AKA Science, a fun and challenging after-school science curriculum for children grades pre-k through 6th.

We offer H.O.T. Jobs (Health Opportunities in Texas)…..a guide to health careers in our state. These booklets provide a list of health careers, job responsibilities, work environments, job outlook, length of training/requirements, licensure/certification requirements, salary, education programs available, & professional associations

The Medical Center of Lewisville has teamed with Prairie AHEC to recruit more young men into nursing. Male nurses from the Medical Center offer presentations to middle schools, high schools and colleges and also participate in career fairs. They serve as mentors for students and offer job shadowing opportunities.
