The answer is a. Beginning in 1891, the university has rung the spirit bell to signal class changes, evening curfew — and most importantly — football spirit. The 2,000-pound bell sounded game victories so often, it finally cracked! You will find the proud ol' bell retired in the University Union. The Talons, a student spirit and service organization, dedicated the original bell to the university in 1982, and it was placed in the University Union across from the One O’Clock Lounge.
