Plan to join us for UNT's Women in Leadership Day Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 28 in the University Union, Silver Eagle Suite. The event features Diana Washington Valdez as the keynote speaker
Valdez is an award-winning journalist whose 2003 series about the Juarez women's murders "Death Stalks the Border" was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. She is considered a foremost expert on the Juarez femicides, Mexican politics, and the drug trade. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute honored her in 2006 with a Latina Leader in the Media Award for her work on the topic. Her recent book Harvest of Women: Safari in Mexico will be available at the luncheon.
Sponsored by the University of North Texas Women's Studies Program, the Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism, and the Women's Center.
Tickets are $15 for Faculty, Staff, and Public.
Student tickets are $10.
