President Gretchen M. Bataille visits with UNT alumnae Carolyn Dennehy and Carolyn Cody at the Denver alumni reception Jan. 10.
Despite the icy and snowy forecast, more than three dozen university alumni joined President Gretchen M. Bataille Jan. 10 in the Sunlight Room of The Pinnacle Club at the Grand Hyatt in Denver.
The reception gave Dr. Bataille a chance to meet with alumni and university friends and give them the opportunity to hear her vision of a new UNT, which is poised to rise to national and international prominence as a student-centered public research university.
UNT's well-known alumni who attended included: Douglas Adams, president and CEO of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra;
Marian and Errol Beauchamp share a laugh with Warren Burggren, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, at the Denver alumni reception. The Beauchamps later joined President Bataille and other special guests for a private dinner hosted by alumna Cathy Krendl, a Denver attorney.
Cathy Krendl, a Denver attorney; and Betty McCarty, a civic leader who retired in July 2006 from the Denver Regional Council of Governments after serving 26 years.
The Denver event is part of Dr. Bataille's inaugural tour, which is the first of its kind for a UNT president. The tour will take her from New York City to Los Angeles and is key in her efforts to increase alumni involvement with the Denton campus while also putting UNT on a map bigger than North Texas. The tour kicked off in November in Chicago.
