President Gretchen M. Bataille visits with UNT alumni and friends at a Dec. 13 reception in New York City.
Several dozen UNT alumni and their guests met with UNT President Gretchen M. Bataille Dec. 13 at a New York City reception.
The reception, which took place at the Westin New York at Times Square, gave alumni and university friends the opportunity to hear Dr. Bataille's vision of a new UNT, which is poised to rise to national and international prominence as a student-centered public research university.
UNT's well-known alumni who attended included: Frank Spencer, cardiologist and New York University professor, and Bob Dorough, author of many of the beloved songs from the Saturday morning television mainstay that spanned three decades - Schoolhouse Rock.
After the reception, Dr. Bataille met with several influential alumni and other university supporters for a private dinner.
The New York City event is part of Dr. Bataille's inaugural tour, which is the first of its kind for a UNT president. The tour will take her from New York City to Los Angeles and is key in her efforts to increase alumni involvement with the Denton campus while also putting UNT on a map bigger than North Texas. The tour kicked off in November in Chicago.
