Free Clinics
Outdoor Pursuits clinics are offered to teach and introduce various outdoor skills including map and compass navigation, kayak roll, knot tying, star gazing, and many more. All clinics are FREE but must have registered participants to be conducted. Register at the Outdoor Pursuits Center by 4pm the day before the clinic date. Clinics are open to UNT students, faculty and staff, Rec. Center members and their guests.

| Where to Go in North Texas Want to get away but don't want to go too far? This clinic will go over a variety of places to recreate in the area and provide you with the tools, information and handouts to find new places to explore around North Texas! |

Kayak Basics This introduction covers basic strokes, t-rescues, wet exits and more. Perfect for both beginners and experienced kayakers! |

Kayak Roll These sessions are designed to introduce you to the sport of kayaking and to teach and improve kayak roll techniques. Whether it's your first time in the water, or you feel you just need a few pointers, this is the place for you! |

| Top-Rope Climbing Anchors This clinic is a great way to learn the basics of building top rope anchors safely. It covers how to use established bolt anchors, how to build anchors using trees and gear, and different methods of equalization. |

| Climbing & Bouldering Techniques Interested in climbing but don't know where to start? Getting ready for the climbing competition and need some extra training time? Climb with an instructor who can show you basic climbing techniques and share helpful tips. |

Knots Nothing is more frustrating than being unable to tie a knot in a hurry, or not being able to get it undone when needed. Come learn a variety of knots, bends, and hitches that are very useful in both the outdoors and everyday life. |

| Traditional Protection for Outdoor Climbing Learn basic "trad" placement theory while practicing with various climbing gear including cams, stoppers, hexes, ball nuts, Big-Bros, natural protection, and more! |

Backcountry Basics This clinic covers basic backpacking techniques, including how to pack and fit your backpack, and what to bring, as well as great trails and how to cook a great backcountry meal! |

| Star Gazing Curious about the constellations and the mythology associated with them? This is one of the best seasons to view the stars, so bring a warm blanket and get ready to hear the stories of Ursa Major, Cassiopeia, Auriga, and other famous constellations! |
