Week of 1-19: Meet and greet, Begin review. As a reminder 5700 covered roughly Chapters 1-9 in Howell and 1-4 in Kline with additional articles and supplemental material possibly related to other chapter content.  For 1-21: Dailys, contract due.  As the questions regarding review have pretty much run the gamut of what we covered, I think we will conduct a general overview with specific focus on things you asked most about (e.g. assumptions, effect size). Next week: More review. Staying ahead: Modern approaches to data analysis

Week of 1-26: Class cancelled Tuesday due to potential weather.  Review will continue Thursday.  Due Thursday-daily questions. Intro to R handout for the new folk.

Week of 2-2: Modern approaches introduction, Correlation/regression.  Due Tuesday- daily questions.

Current/future readings: Amer Psych article, Howell Chapter 9 (for review); In addition, the Wilcox article on correlation or chapter handout (your choice).  I may wait a bit on the robust regression chapter. Howell chapter 15.

Week of 2-9: Modern approaches introduction, Regression.  Due Tuesday- daily questions.

Current/future readings: Amer Psych article, Howell Chapter 9 (for review); In addition, the Wilcox article on correlation or chapter handout (your choice).

News:  Your first critique is due next Tuesday 2-24.  Initial description of project requirements, subject to some change over the next week but likely not.  However, more specific detail on results requirements will eventually be given.  Your lab questions answered.

Week of 2-16 Continued discussion of multiple regression.

Current/future readings:  Howell chapter 15.

Note that 'future' readings are those you may not have access to yet or are still a ways off in terms of class coverage.  The above notes the order in which the content will be covered in class.

News: You do not need to turn in questions on Thursday if you did on Tuesday. Critique is due next Tuesday 2-24.  Initial description of project requirements, subject to some change over the next week but likely not.  However, more specific detail on results requirements will eventually be given.  Your lab questions answered.

Week of 2-23 Continued discussion of multiple regression.  Additional approaches.

Week of 3-2 Continued discussion of multiple regression.  Moderators, Mediators, alternative techniques.

News: You do not need to turn in questions on Thursday if you did on Tuesday. Critique is due next Tuesday 2-24.  Initial description of project requirements, subject to some change over the next week but likely not.  However, more specific detail on results requirements will eventually be given.  Your lab questions answered.

Current/future readings:  Howell chapter 15.

News:  Initial description of project requirements. Specific details on results reporting.  You have from now until the exam to do an article critique on a paper utilizing basic multiple regression of the kinds you have done in lab (path analysis/SEM not allowed). Critique requirements.

Week of 3-9 Introduction to other regression procedures with demonstration of logistic regression. We will likely conclude our regression discussion this week.

Current/future readings:  Howell chapter 15. For those that like to stay ahead, Howell chapter 11 (Kline Chapter 4 for review).

Week of 3-23 Midterm Thursday. Review Outline.    You have from now until the exam to do an article critique on a paper utilizing basic multiple regression of the kinds you have done in lab (path analysis/SEM not allowed).

Week of 3-30: Begin coverage of ANOVA. Your corrections to the midterm will be due next Tuesday.  Reminder: corrections require both determining a correct/better answer and describing why you think you missed it and/or why the alternative is more accurate.

Current/future readings:  Howell chapter 11-14 (and that will pretty much be it for Howell, though chapter 16 would be to your benefit). Note that Chapter 6 and 7 in Kline will be covered later after we've covered most ANOVA stuff.

Week of 4-6: Multiple comparisons, Factorial design

Week of 4-13: Factorial design, Repeated Measures.  Your next critique is due the 23rd and the final one may be turned in from then on at any point up to 5-1.  For the next one, there is no analysis restriction, but it has to be representative of what you would deem quality research.  For the last one I will present a list of techniques that we have not covered as a starting point, though you can choose any analysis/approach we have not covered.  I want you to attempt to show some understanding in unfamiliar territory.

Week of 4-20: Repeated Measures, Mixed Design.  Critique due the 23rd (again, must be done on some research you found well conducted).  No questions due Thursday, just critique.

Week of 4-27: Mixed Design.  Effect Sizes in ANOVA.

News:  Initial description of project requirements. Specific details on results reporting. Critique requirements.  Last Critique due 5-5.  It must cover an analysis you lack familiarity with.  See Multivariate notes for suggestions.

Week of 5-4:  On Tuesday we'll finish up effect sizes and chat about some other things.  Thursday is review.  You may attend any or all labs this week in order to get your project done.
