Brooke Carter, M.A.
Coordinator of Student Activities
Brooke Carter, Coordinator of Student Activities, was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Hampton University. While at Hampton, Brooke was involved in various organizations and took full advantage of what her new "home by the sea" had to offer. Upon returning to Michigan, Brooke attended Western Michigan University where she received a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership with the Higher Education and Student Affairs concentration. Her research interests include First Year Experience, and Student Success Programs. Brooke enjoys getting to know the students she works with, and seeing them reach their goals.
Interesting Fact: Brooke attended high school where her father was a principal, and her mother a teacher.

Dantrayl Smith
Coordinator of Student Activities
Dantrayl Smith, Student Activities Coordinator, is from Memphis, TN and fellow graduate of Craigmont High School. Dantrayl received his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and his masters in Higher Education Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina. Dantrayl loves interacting with students and helping them succeed. His area of research focus is on student leadership development.
Interesting Fact: Dantrayl loves to travel and work out.

Claire Medina
Administrative Assistant
Claire Medina serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Student Activities Center. Of her 27 years of service to UNT, Claire has spent 14 of those years working in Student Activities. Ms. Medina also provides assistance to students wishing to schedule outdoor space, and academic classrooms for student organizations. Ms. Medina is a valuable resource for students providing guidance related to critical University issues.
Interesting Fact: I was born in Canada and I speak French.
Favorite Food: French cuisine…"Bon Appetite"

Bruce August, Jr.
Graduate Assistant for Student Activities
Bruce is a native of Galveston, Texas and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2007. He is currently working to complete his Master of Science in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs in December 2010. His research interests include student access, retention, student success and African Americans in higher education. An interesting fact about Bruce is that he served as a correctional officer for five years before finding his niche in higher education. Bruce's favorite type of food is seafood.
Kristi Collins
Graduate Assistant for Student Activities
Kristi Collins is from Allen, TX and received her Bachelor's in Arts and Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is currently working on her Masters in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs. Her professional interest at this point in her education is in student leadership and programming. An interesting fact about Kristi is that she is a citizen of Chickasaw Nation. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, reading, and playing with her dog, Daisy.
