Once you have received confirmation of receipt after sending in the
Online Advising Memo for Spring 2005, then you may register using the following
procedure:
1. go to my.unt.edu and log in
2. choose 'academics'
3. if there is a + sign next to 'register for classes' then click on
the + sign OR if there is a minus sign then click the underlined 'register
for classes' and advance to step 5
4. click the underlined
'register for classes', then on the next page…
5. choose '2005 spring'
6. choose 'add classes' at
bottom of screen
7. click on one of the
‘magnifying glass’ icons
8. on the following
screen type "SLIS" in the box labeled "Subject" then type
the catalog number (for example, 5300) in the box labeled "catalog
number". Press Search.
9. the results of your class search will
appear; choose the class you want and then click on the box with the check mark
in it, on the left hand side of your screen, to add the class to your schedule
10. click ‘submit’
11. next screen: click the box with the checkmark
in it (next to the class section you wish to take)
12. once you get to the next screen, it will
say that you have successfully added, or it will say that errors have been
found. If you have been successfully added, repeat the process above as necessary
until you have added all your classes. If errors were found, it is *most
likely* because you have not been entered into the class by SLIS staff yet,
which can happen for several reasons. Those reasons:
Ø you are a new student,
and cannot register at this time; new
graduate students can "early register" between November 11-17
Ø you are a continuing
student but did not request through the Online Advising Memo, to be added to
the class
Ø you are a continuing
student but you are trying to add a section of the class for which you are
ineligible to enroll or which does not match the section you were placed in by
SLIS staff
Ø you are a continuing
student but insufficient time has elapsed since you submitted your Online
Advising Memo
If the above reasons do not apply, and you
still encounter errors, you may want to make sure that you do not have unpaid
parking tickets, library fines, et cetera. If you were admitted provisionally
because you did not turn in GRE or MAT scores, and this is your second semester
or after, you may be blocked from registration until your successful test
scores are received and posted.
13. When you have added all the classes for
which you have been advised, you may go and pay for your classes at my.unt.edu
(the same website you use to register). You MUST pay or arrange for payment for your classes by the
semester deadline; it is your responsibility to note and meet the
deadline, or your class schedule will disappear and you will have to register
all over again at a later date. If you have arranged financial aid and your aid
will cover your tuition and fees, then your classes should not be dropped
and your aid will post sometime right before classes begin in January.
