Doralyn J. Hickey Memorial Fund


This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Doralyn J. Hickey, a UNT Professor of Library and Information Sciences since 1977, who passed away in 1987. Dr. Hickey was a recognized authority in the field of library technical services. She received the Margaret Mann Citation for excellence in technical services, the American Library Association’s highest award in the field.

At the request of many of Dr. Hickey’s associates and former students, SLIS established the Doralyn J. Hickey scholarship to be awarded annually to students who intend to pursue a career in the technical service area of library and information sciences.

Criteria:

The following minimum criteria must be met in order to be eligible for consideration:

  1. approval for unconditional admission to a SLIS graduate degree program
  2. a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a prior academic study
  3. a confirmed interest in pursuing a professional career in the technical services area of library and information sciences.
