The Kenneth L.Ferstl Scholarship

 

The Kenneth L. Ferstl Scholarship was established in  honor of Dr. Kenneth Ferstl who taught at UNT School of Library and Information Sciences from 1969-1994. The scholarship was conceived by Dr. Ferstl's former students in recognition of his dedication and long time service as a library science scholar. Dr. Ferstl is an expert in areas of cataloging and classification, adult services and public libraries.

 

Criteria:

To be eligible for consideration, an applicant for the scholarship must possess the following characteristics:

  1. Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the School of Library and Information Sciences in effect at the time of the award
  2. Maintain full time enrollment at the University, unless they have fewer that twice the number of semester hours required to be full time remaining in their degree program
  3. Enroll as a full-time or part-time student in the Master’s Program in Library and Information Sciences at the University.
  4. Preference will be given to students wishing to specialize in one of the following areas: cataloging and classification, Adult Services, or Public Libraries.
