The Kenneth L.Ferstl Scholarship
The Kenneth L. Ferstl Scholarship was established in honor
of Dr. Kenneth Ferstl who taught at UNT School of Library and Information Sciences
from 1969-1994. The scholarship was conceived by Dr. Ferstl's former students in
recognition of his dedication and long time service as a library science
scholar. Dr. Ferstl is an expert in areas of cataloging and classification,
adult services and public libraries.
Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant for the
scholarship must possess the following characteristics:
- Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic
performance standards of the School of Library and Information Sciences in
effect at the time of the award
- Maintain full time enrollment at the University, unless
they have fewer that twice the number of semester hours required to be full
time remaining in their degree program
- Enroll as a full-time or part-time student in the Master’s Program in
Library and Information Sciences at the University.
- Preference will be given to students wishing to
specialize in one of the following areas: cataloging and classification, Adult
Services, or Public Libraries.
