Margaret Irby Nichols Scholarship Fund


The Margaret Irby Nichols Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Margaret Irby Nichols on the occasion of her retirement in Spring of 1991. This endowed scholarship fund was initiated as a gift from the School of Library and Information Sciences’ faculty. Monies generated from the corpus of the fund will be used to provide scholarships for beginning and/or continuing students in the master’s program of the school. A member of the School of Library and Information Sciences since 1956, Professor Nichols was assistant Dean at the time of her retirement. Since retirement she continues to be actively involved in SLIS, serving as the editor of the Call Number.

Criteria:

To be eligible for consideration, an applicant for the scholarship must possess the following characteristics:

  1. be admitted to the Master's of Science program in the School of Library and Information Sciences
  2. meet the minimum standards for scholarly aid in force in the School of Library and Information Sciences at the time of application
  3. be enrolled in at least nine graduate hours at the time of the receipt of any stipend
