SLIS offers the following Miscellaneous Scholarships.

Phil & Lis Turner Scholarship

Phil Turner served as the Dean of the School of Library and Information Sciences and Associate Vice President of Distance Education at UNT. He continues to serve the university community as the Vice-Provost for Enhanced Learning. Before joining UNT, Phil was on the faculty of the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alabama for nineteen years, the last nine years in the position of Dean. He served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Telecommunications for five years in Alabama.

Lis Turner was the Director of Technical Services at Shelton State Junior Library. She is currently serving UNT in the development and delivery of web-based courses for the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management.

Phil and Lis Turner Scholarship is open to students in all concentrations of Library and Information Sciences. It includes in-state tuition for out-of-state residents.

Criteria:

To be eligible for consideration, an applicant for the scholarship must possess the following characteristics:

1.   Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the School of Library and Information Sciences in effect at the time of any award.

2.   Must maintain enrollment at the University during the semester in which they receive the award.
