from the School of Library and Information Sciences in 1973, spent most of his
professional career at the National Library of Papua New Guinea, serving there from 1980
until his untimely death in 1991 at the age of 40. He was involved in cataloging a
large part of the national library's sizeable uncataloged collection, and in editing the
country's first national bibliography. He received the Bachelor of Music degree from
the University of Texas at Arlington, and the Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from
San Francisco State University. His mother, Dr. Dorothy McConnell, established a
scholarship in his memory.
