Information Technology Knowledge and Skills Non-Credit SLIS ITKS Course Introduction: This is a non-credit online course designed for students to acquire basic computer knowledge and skills in a self-paced fashion. Through a series of tutorials, students can master the seven groups of skills listed in the ITKS requirements. Students will use Skillport and Knowledgenet systems provided through UNT-CBT as learning platforms. Instructions, tutorials and exercises for each group of skills will be available online. While there will be no examinations in this class, a self-assessment test will be available at the end of each tutorial. Students are encouraged to do the exercises and take tests to assess their own learning. Who should take this course: The target population for this course are students with limited knowledge and skills in using computers as a tools for academic activities, such as formatting an term paper, delivering a presentation, or searching information on the Internet. Students who do not score at the 75% level for each of the seven ITKS using SLIS ITKS Diagnostic Tool should consider taking this course. CBT: In an effort to improve the ITKS course format, content and delivery, the ITKS course platform has been moved to a new online format/system. Consequently, the UNT- CBT (Computer based training) department will be creating individual accounts for all new applicants through which they will access the ITKS course content. Upon receiving notice of receipt of your ITKS registration form from the course facilitator, you should receive a subsequent e-mail from UNT-CBT with additional information on how to proceed. Please use the password and username indicated for you (by CBT) to access the respective accounts\URLs to the ITKS course content. Note: The registration for this class is good only through August 4, 2006. Registrations after August 4, 2006 will be good through December 15, 2006. The university reserves the right to restrict enrollment. To Register for this class complete the registration form and mail it to SLIS. You will be contacted by email and course materials will be mailed to the address you provide on the form.
