Facts

  • Students will be required to attend two four-day institutes held Friday-Monday, September 2-5, 2005 and January 13 -16, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Metrodome and the University of Minnesota Law Library. See Schedule of Courses for more details. Housing: The School has reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Metrodome. To reserve a room, contact the Holiday Inn Metrodome at (800)448-3663 and mention the UNT Program.
  • The remainder of the instruction will take place via the Web.
  • Students must begin the program in the Fall of 2005. 
  • Students may use up to nine semester hours of coursework from other graduate programs toward the master's degree with approval of their program advisor.

  • Students will apply to, be admitted, and be advised from the School of Library and Information Sciences at the University of North Texas. 

Estimated Costs

  • One semester-hour course: $340

  • Three semester-hour course $1,020

  • Four semester-hour course $1,360

 

An Online Learning Community

   The Minnesota Program students will stay together as a cohort through their first year of study and will be in classes limited to only cohort students.  Cohort students are encouraged to participate in the SLIS Village where they will have a neighborhood of their own.

Practicum/Computing Requirements

  • SLIS Students must present evidence of relevant field experience through prior experience or by taking a field experience course through SCSU.

  • SLIS students are expected to possess information technology knowledge and skills that will enable them to learn in the distributed environment.   It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that these competencies are possessed.  See http://www.unt.edu/slis/apppacket/ITKS/ITKSFAQ.htm for details.

  • The field experience does not count toward the 36 semester hours required for the masters.
