Facts

  • Students will be required to attend two four-day institutes held Friday-Monday, August 31 -September 3, 2007 and January 11-14, 2008 at the University of Nevada Vegas. See Schedule of Courses for more details.  Housing: The School has reserved a block of rooms at AmeriSuites Las Vegas Hotel.
     
  • The remainder of the instruction will take place via the Web.
     
  • Students must begin the program in the Fall of 2007.
     
  • Students may use up to nine semester hours of coursework from other graduate programs toward the master's degree with approval of their program advisor.
     

  • Students will apply to, be admitted, and be advised from the School of Library and Information Sciences at the University of North Texas. 

Estimated Costs

  • One semester-hour course: $340
     

  • Three semester-hour course $1020
     

  • Four semester-hour course $1,360

An Online Learning Community

   The Nevada Program students will stay together as a cohort through their first year of study and will be in classes limited to only cohort students.  Cohort students are encouraged to participate in the SLIS Village where they will have a neighborhood of their own.

Practicum/Computing Requirements

  • SLIS Students must present evidence of relevant field experience through prior experience or by taking a field experience course in addition to the thirty-six semester hours required for the Master's.

  • SLIS students are expected to possess computing competencies that will enable them to learn in the distributed environment.   It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that these competencies are possessed.  See www.unt.edu/slis for details.
