This website originated as a team project in the Summer I, 1998 Indexing and Abstracting class at the School of Library and Information Sciences, University of North Texas.
The website is an index to sites that represent the rich cultural environment available in our unique region of Texas. The sheer geographical size of the Metroplex (a combination of the Denton, Dallas, and Ft. Worth areas) makes maps extremely valuable. Many of the sites listed in the Eagle Index include maps to assist you in finding your way around the Metroplex.
We designed the site as a tool to acquaint potential students, visiting professors, and others relocating to the area with all that the Metroplex has to offer.
Our emphasis when selecting sites was to choose the most representative resources from an overwhelming number of sites in the subject areas listed. The main subject areas and the index allow for easy navigation to resources in the cultural arts, education, entertainment, services, and transportation. The criteria for site selection included: accuracy, authority, currency, scope and relavancy of content. If you find a site that we need to include please e-mail Dr. S. K.
