 Leadership and Involvement Opportunities

The University of North Texas hosts over 250 active student organizations and clubs through which students pursue leadership development and fellowship in many facets of campus life.  In addition to participation in officially registered organizations, students may serve as a student body representative on any one of the University Standing Committees, an opportunity made available through the Student Government Association.  Students who wish to assume leadership roles may be interested in participating in one of our many "umbrella" organizations, which provide governance for affiliated groups and allow for collective input on university-wide matters:

Student Government Association (SGA) - The student voice on campus-wide committees and in policy decisions; provides direct services to students, such as metro-phones and student directories.

Eagle's Nest Interorganizational Council - Enhances cooperation and communication among organizations, and provides funding opportunities for organization activities and events (part of SGA).

Graduate Student Council - Adjunct to Academic Dean's Council; represents graduate students in academic matters.

Residence Hall Association - Promotes cooperation among residence halls.

North Texas Forty - Student foundation made up of student organization leaders; represents President's Office.

National Pan-Hellenic Council - Promotes cooperation and communication among traditionally African-American Greek organizations.

Panhellenic Association - Promotes cooperation among NPC-affiliated sororities.

Latin Greek Council - Promotes cooperation and communication among traditionally Latino/Latina Greek organizations.

Interfraternity Council - Promotes cooperation and communication among NIC-affiliated fraternities.

TAMS Student Council - Leadership and governing board for students in Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science.

University Program Council - Eleven subcommittees provide programming and entertainment for the campus community; volunteer staff made up of students like YOU.

Other organizations that provide leadership opportunities include those that serve distinct missions in the following areas: academic, honorary and professional, international/intercultural, religious, club sports, recreational, service, campus spirit and pride, special interest, advocacy, and other interests.
