Eri Yoshimura Born in Osaka, Japan, Eri Yoshimura earned a music education degree from Shinshu University before moving to Denton, Texas in 1998 and obtaining a second bachelor's and a master's degree in piano performance from the University of North Texas. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in piano performance under Dr. Pamela Mia Paul with a related field in Music and Medicine under Dr. Kris Chesky. Eri Yoshimura's scholarly research has focused on understanding and preventing piano-related medical problems. Conducted during the spring 2005, her first major research effort involved extensive upper-extremity evaluations of 35 college-level piano majors. A scientific paper titled: "Risk Factors for Piano Related Pain among College Students" is currently under review for the Medical Problems of Performing Artists journal. Her research interest is ongoing and focused on reducing piano related pain among pianists and the possible application of a smaller keyboard for small handed pianists. Eri Yoshimura has performed recitals in the USA, Japan, and Italy. She participated in Casalmaggiore Summer Festival (Italy) twice and has performed in master classes with Mr. Lee Kum Sing. She also participated in the Bösendorfer Academy and performed at the Bösendorfer Saal in June 2005. In addition to performance, she works as a teaching fellow at UNT. |
