Dr. John Hipple
John Hipple, Ph.D. is a counselor at the University of North Texas
Counseling & Testing Services. Dr. Hipple provides a variety
of counseling services to UNT students. He specializes in providing
counseling, consultation, and education to music students and other
musical professionals. Specifically he works with performing artists
who experience performance anxiety and stress. He is also interested
in helping musical groups (bands and ensembles) improve their inner
group communication and problem solving. Additionally he is interested
in working with the significant others of musicians from either
a couple or family perspective.
In the area of research, Dr. Hipple’s work has been published
in the Medical Problems of Performing Artists, Journal of College
Student Psychotherapy, Brass Bulletin, Texas Counseling Association
Journal, to mention a few.
Dr. Hipple has also made presentations at such music industry conferences
as South by Southwest, Cutting Edge Music Conference, and International
Blue Grass Music Association , He has also presented workshops sponsored
by Baylor University, Texas Recording Academy , and the Recording
Academy.
Currently Dr. Hipple serves on the Wellness Committee of the International
Blue Grass Music Association. He is also contributing to the wellness
program of the Folk Alliance. He also provides a regular column
on StarPolish. Com.
