UNT Testing and Counseling Services

Dr. John Hipple

Students currently enrolled at the University of North Texas are eligible for free counseling at the Counseling & Testing Center in the Union Building on the Denton Campus. The Center offers personal, career, and couple counseling. In many instances, a music student may need outside assistance but is reluctant to seek it out. This may leave the teacher as the prime source of support. Staff can be available as ‘coaches’ in these situations.

John Hipple, Ph.D. is the primary mental health consultant to the Texas Center for Music & Medicine and the UNT College of Music. His major interests focus on working with musician’s performance anxiety and stress, relationship issues, and communication problems. However, the professional staff is qualified to work with a wide range of presenting problems.
