| Introduction | In this section you will create a Title slide and two Bullet slides. |
| OBJECTIVES | At the end of the entire handout, you will be
able to do the following:
|
SCENARIO |
You work for the Public Affairs Office of the University and need to give a presentation on the Club at College Inn. You need to create a slide show making sure you use bar graphs and organization charts. |

| When you launch PowerPoint, the selection
screen above appears. You can use the AutoContent Wizard to help you enter text for your presentation. Very good alternative for those never creating a slide show before. Use Template to select from many different backgrounds so you can have a continuous theme for your presentation. Use Blank Presentation to choose from several pre-formatted slide formats but no theme background. Or, you can work on an existing presentation by selecting the name of the existing file. |
|
![]() From the list of file name templates, choose the most appropriate for your topic. Select CONTEMPORARY PORTRAIT.POT for our presentation, by clicking on the icons file name, then clicking on OK. |
|
![]() Select a format for the first slide. Since we need a title slide, choose it from the list, and click on OK. |
|
![]() Click on the part of the screen that says "Click to add Title" and type in: The CLUB at College Inn When finished, click to add the sub-title: "Fine Dining in a Casual Setting" Click outside the sub-title box. |
|
To make better use of the template background, click again inside the Sub-Title text. A box will appear around the text.
Point the mouse pointer (which changes to a 4 sided arrow) inside the text box, hold down mouse button and drag the text so it appears under and even with the Title. Let up from the mouse to anchor the text. You may need to resize the right side of the subtitle box to give enough space for all the words to fit. We are going to put add a graphic image to the bottom of the slide. |
|
| To insert a graphic, find the icon on the
toolbar that has a picture of a cartoon mans face. This is your "Insert Clip
Art" graphics icon. Click on the icon to bring up a list of graphic images. Select Foods and Dining, and find and scroll through to find the Cheesecake graphic, and click on the graphic. (The Magnify option will need to be selected to see the graphic name.) Select OK to insert the image into your slide.
To resize the cheesecake graphic, point at one of the anchor boxes on the edges of the graphic, hold down the mouse and resize. To move the graphic, hold down the mouse button with the cursor anywhere inside the graphic, and slide to where it is to be moved. Let up on the mouse button. |
|
| To add an additional slide, look on the
Standard Toolbar right of the "Insert ClipArt" icon. When you point to it, it
should say "New Slide". The New Slide selection should reappear. Select the Bullet Chart.
Click to add the title:
You can change font sizes within the title. Block the second and third lines of the title and select a different point size (18 pt) from the Formatting toolbar. |
Start adding the bulleted text:
|
|
| To insert a graphic, find the icon on the
toolbar that has a picture of a cartoon mans face. This is your "Insert Clip
Art" graphics icon. Click on the icon to bring up a list of graphic images. Select FOODS AND DINING, and then select click on CHEF2. Select OK to bring a copy of the graphic to the slide. Resize and move the graphic as needed. You may also want to move the bullet text down to make room for the graphic.
|
|

lets review. To add a new slide:
