Career potential

A graduate degree in educational administration will help you build the skills and knowledge base you need for a career as a school administrator in public or private schools, or as a professional in a government agency, nonprofit or other educational organization. The curriculum will challenge you to think creatively in organizing educational services and solving problems that will be encountered in the real world. The Texas principal's certificate requires an additional 3 hours of internship for a total of 39 semester hours. The internship consists of 125 hours of administrative responsibility and must be completed during the semester in which the student is enrolled in the internship course. After completing all the courses, including the internship, students must pass the state-administered Examination for the Certification of Educators in Texas (ExCET) for certification. Students are eligible for temporary certification, which is valid for five years, after the completion of EDAD 5300, 5330, 5390 and 5400.
