  • Position Title: Student Ambassadors
  • Starting Date: September 1, 2007
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for UNT coursework as an undergraduate student; 3.0 GPA for UNT coursework as a graduate student
    • Have attended at least one long semester at UNT Dallas Campus at the beginning of the semester in which work begins
    • Commit to two long semesters of work during an academic year (fall and spring semesters) and be continuously enrolled during those semesters
    • Attend periodic meetings
    • Exhibit leadership potential and an outgoing, friendly personality
    • Be in good standing with the university and free of any disciplinary actions
    • Be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse groups of people and personalities
    • Be enrolled in at least one course at the UNT Dallas Campus each semester while serving as an Ambassador

  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Actively participate in recruitment and outreach events
    • Staff the Welcome Desk to provide general information about the campus, event listings and direct visitors to the campus
    • Provide campus tours to student groups and special guests
    • Speak with students or follow up with students interested in attending UNT Dallas Campus
    • Assist students with inquiries about the status of their admissions application
    • Coordinate appointments for prospective students with academic advisers as needed
    • Keep statistics on incoming calls, referral sources, marketing campaigns and others as assigned
    • Fulfill requests from prospective students for information (through mail, e-mail or fax)
    • Coordinate processing of prospective student contact cards with UNT admissions offices
    • Represent UNT Dallas Campus and UNT System at special events as needed
    • Assist with administrative tasks including answering incoming phone calls from prospective students, preparing mailings to prospective students and other special projects as needed
  • Working Hours: 15 - 20 hours each week

  • Position Title: Office Assistant
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Enrolled (or will be enrolled) in at least one course during the time of employment.
    • High School degree or equivalent education. College coursework is preferred.
    • Experience with security sensitive information preferred.
    • Experience working with diverse populations.
    • One-year experience in a customer service environment.
    • General office experience including computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or other software.
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
    • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
    • Familiarity with university procedures preferred.

  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Greet individuals that enter the Student Development Office.
    • Assist with scheduling for the use of Student Development services (i.e., Learning Services, Testing Services, etc.)
    • Answer Student Development incoming phone calls.
    • Provide general information regarding Student Development services.
    • Support Student Development Coordinator with basic office tasks (typing, making copies, etc.)
    • Provide general information about the Dallas Campus, degree programs offered, special events, student services and other general information about the University of North Texas System.
    • Provide disability accommodation services (i.e., reading quizzes and tests for students with disabilities).
    • Effectively manage security sensitive/confidential information.
    • Assist with Student Development Office programming at the Dallas Campus.
    • Provide support for the Student Services Suite Staff as needed and as approved by the Student Development Coordinator or Student Services Coordinator II.
    • Maintain and update inventory in the Career Resource Room. Assist students with the use of materials and computer software.
    • All other duties as assigned

  • Position Title:  Student Assistant (Work-Study preferred but not required)

  • Purpose: The Student Assistant will provide overall support to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships
  • Educational Background: Major in Business Administration, Computer Science, Higher Education or related field. Classified as junior, senior or higher. This position is open to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Computer knowledge in the following (Microsoft Office, Access, Excel and other software)
    • Have some working knowledge of  the Federal Financial Aid and Scholarship programs and grants
    • Excellent writing skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Experience with security sensitive information preferred
    • Experience working with diverse populations
    • One year experience in a customer service environment, in a higher education environment preferred
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • Familiarity with UNT procedures preferred
    • Detailed oriented
    • Must be professional
  • Duties:
    • Provided general information  about the different types of financial aid and scholarship offer thru  the Dallas Campus to students, parents and the general public
    • Greet students and visitors
    • Assist with registration activities
    • Provide general information about the Dallas Campus, degree programs offered, special events, student services and other general information about the UNT System
    • Assist with designing of databases, templates and forms to be used in Student Services
    • Assist with the development of the Financial Aid and Scholarship Policies and Procedures Manual
    • Assist with answering and returning students calls, emails and financial aid inquires
    • Will work on special projects and events
    • Provide general administrative support to the Student Services Department as needed
    • Help foster a quality customer service environment
    • Other tasks as assigned by Director of Student Services or other Student Services staff
  • Working Hours Monday thru Friday 20-25 hrs per week to be arranged
  • Pay Rate: $8.00 per hour
