The third floor atrium houses the main general access computer lab for the Dallas campus. 30 desktop computer workstations, 1 color laser printer and 2 black & white laser printers are available for current student use anytime the building is open. There are available for student printing. Lab assistants are on duty Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 10:00pm, Friday 7:30am to 6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The third floor lab is an open environment useful for group projects and quick access to computer resources. Please note that this environment may not be suitable for students that prefer a quiet atmosphere.
The quiet study computer lab is located in room 201H. This lab offers students a library like atmosphere to concentrate on their school work. Talking, cell phone use and group study are not permitted in the quiet study lab. This lab may offer the best environment for on-line tests and the least possible interruptions. There are 27 desktop computer workstations and 1 black & white laser printer available for student use anytime the building is open.
Laptop computers are available for checkout in the Library, room 130, and the third floor computer lab. Students must surrender two forms of ID and sign an usage agreement form to checkout a laptop. The laptop connects to JagNet wirelessly allowing Internet access and printing throughout the building and outside seating areas. The laptops cannot be removed from campus.
Printers available for student use are installed on all lab computers. Students are not charged for printing by the page at UNT Dallas. However, there are printing limits. Students can only print 2 copies at a time and no more than 20 pages at a time; 40 pages front and back.
All computers are at least 2 GB machines, 80 GB hard drive with a core 2 duo processor. Each machine contains USB ports and a DVD+/- RW drive. There are not any floppy disk drives installed in the computers but an external floppy disk drive is available through the help desk or the lab assistant station. Users can perform any task they wish on the computers in the lab. However, when the machine is restarted, it returns to its original configuration. Any saves or changes that a user has made to the computer will be lost!!
