Summer camp at UNT UNT Dallas will prepare students for PSAT/SAT

DALLAS – The PSAT and SAT exams are a rite of passage on the road to college, but many students see the tests as impenetrable obstacles. So UNT Dallas is sponsoring a free, five-day summer camp on the math component of the PSAT and SAT to assist students in preparing for the college entrance exams.

The camp, also sponsored by the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas Woman’s University, Midwestern State University, and the organization “Education is Freedom,” will take place from July 14-18 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day at UNT Dallas, located at 7300 Houston School Road, near the intersection of I-35E and 1-20.

Upcoming sophomores and juniors are encouraged to attend the summer camp, but must be able to attend all sessions. The registration deadline for the camp is June 15, and a registration form may be obtained by e-mail at bobadilla@uta.edu.

Or for more information, contact the office of recruiting at UNT Dallas at 972-780-3642.

In the 2006 school year, according to the Dallas Independent School District, the average SAT score district wide was 855, while the state average was 991. The regional average was 1012.

DART provides transportation to and from UNT Dallas on the 415 bus from the Ledbetter station. For a complete DART bus schedule, go to www.dart.org/schedules/w415ea.htm and www.dart.org/schedules/w415we.htm.

The UNT UNT Dallas operates under the authority of the University of North Texas in Denton, the state’s fourth largest university, and is a component institution of the University of North Texas System. The Campus currently offers junior-, senior- and graduate-level courses leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The Campus will become freestanding and open as UNT Dallas, the city’s first and only public university, by 2010.
