DALLAS—The North Dallas Chamber of Commerce education committee met at the University of North Texas at Dallas Aug. 25.
Carol Asel Short, vice president for public affairs for the chamber, said, “UNT has been a valued member of the Chamber and active on our committee. We wanted to get out of our little corner of North Dallas and see the exciting things going on here in the southern sector, and we are all just blown away.”
“We look forward to coming back next year for the ribbon cutting,” she added, referring to construction of the second building on campus. Crews began work Aug. 20 on the site where the $41.8 million, three-story, 100,000 square foot building will be built. The building will contain classrooms, labs, an expanded library, and staff and faculty offices and will allow the university to admit freshmen and sophomores for the first time in the fall of 2010.
John Ellis Price, vice chancellor and president designate for the new university, spoke to the group about the progress the fledgling university is making. Joe Breshears, executive director of development, gave the group a tour of the facility.
