DALLAS – Companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex are invited to participate in the annual UNT Dallas Campus career fair Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the UNT Dallas Campus.
The campus hosts the career fair to connect students with local companies where they may gain experience while finishing their degrees and even after graduation. Laura Smith, student development coordinator at the UNT Dallas Campus, said the career fair introduces students to their options “in the world of work.”
“It is a chance for students to learn about local and national career opportunities,” Smith said. “Often students are only exposed to careers held by their immediate family and friends. The career fair aims to expose students to full-time employment opportunities in a variety of fields and serve as a networking tool as well.”
Last year, 42 companies participated in the career fair, a 30 percent increase over the previous year. Smith said she hopes at least 50 local and national employers will participate this year.
Companies that wish to participate in the career fair may fill out a registration form online at www.unt.edu/unt-dallas/careerfair/. A $75 registration fee applies, but non-profit companies may contact the Office of Student Development at 972-780-3632 for a special rate.
The UNT Dallas Campus, which operates under the authority of the University of North Texas in Denton, currently offers junior-, senior- and graduate-level courses leading to bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Once freestanding, the University of North Texas at Dallas will begin recruiting its first freshman class for admission in fall 2009.
