DALLAS — University of North Texas at Dallas Vice Chancellor John Ellis Price recently received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America.
The Boy Scouts’ Circle Ten Council recognized 23 outstanding volunteers with the distinguished service award for making an impact in the lives of youth through service given to the council. “These volunteers implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication and many years of service,” Circle Ten Marketing Director Wendy Kurten said. The award is given each year to volunteers who do not actively seek it.

Ponce Duran Jr., Boy Scouts Executive/CEO (l) and Thomas L. Baker, 2009 council president of the Circle Ten Council, present a Silver Beaver Award to UNT UNT Dallas Vice Chancellor John Ellis Price.
“In our society today, the traditional values of integrity, character, honesty and patriotism are not often praised. I am thankful that the Boy Scouts of America promote these values. I am also thankful that the Boy Scouts stress the importance of education and leadership with a view toward training future citizen-leaders in our nation. I count it a privilege to be involved with this organization and I am honored to receive this award,” Price said.
