In the fall 2008 semester, Vice Chancellor John Ellis Price and the Executive Director of Development Joseph Breshears had the privilege of hosting representatives of the Harold Simmons Foundation on UNT Dallas. Out of a broad-ranging discussion that touched on a number of needs in higher education generally and the UNT Dallas specifically, the Foundation announced a gift of $100,000 to the Campus’ general scholarship fund.
By making this remarkable investment in UNT Dallas students, the Simmons Foundation expressed its shared commitment to overcoming every obstacle that stands in the way of a student’s educational dreams. The Foundation recognized that the single greatest obstacle is the cost of a college education.
The executive leadership of the UNT Dallas remains deeply grateful for the trust and confidence demonstrated by the Harold Simmons Foundation in this institution and, most importantly, in the students who will benefit from the Foundation’s generosity. As we transition from extension campus to the new UNT Dallas, the administration looks forward to a continued and strategic partnership with the Harold Simmons Foundation.
