DALLAS—The Alzhiemer’s Association of Dallas and gerontology classes at the University of North Texas at Dallas have organized a health conference on aging and memory for family and healthcare professionals Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church in Dallas.

The conference is being sponsored by the Dallas Area Agency on Aging, the City of Dallas Office of Senior Affairs, The Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, DART, Friendship West Baptist Church and the Alzheimer’s Disease Center at UT Southwestern.

Dr. Monique Williams with the department of geriatrics and nutrition at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is the featured speaker. Speakers will cover such topics as “Is memory loss a natural part of getting older?” “Diet and exercise tips for your brain,” “Caregiving connections,” and “End of life issues.”

Advance registration is $10 and includes lunch, snacks and all materials. Registration is $15 at the door.

Maudia Gentry, associate professor of gerontology at UNT Dallas, says organizers also will have drawings for some great prizes including restaurant gift cards and groceries.
