The future campus: UNT Dallas
Destination: UNT Dallas (it’s closer than you think).
UNT Dallas was established in 1999 to enhance access to public higher education in Dallas and Ellis counties. When enrollment at UNT Dallas reaches 1,000 full-time equivalent students, the University of North Texas at Dallas — the first public university in the city of Dallas — can be opened. This new institution
of higher learning is being built on 264 acres at Houston School and Camp Wisdom roads in southern Dallas and will generate:
- Unprecedented access to high-quality, affordable education within the city of Dallas
- Economic development and employment opportunities within southern Dallas.
- Major research initiatives in a variety of disciplines.
The mission of The University of North Texas at Dallas is to:
- Increase the number of citizens in Dallas and Ellis counties who hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees; and
- Implement programs and partnerships that will help to increase the high school graduation and college-going rates in these areas.
