Digital Tutoring

Digital tutoring is now available through the UNT Online Writing Lab (OWL). You can sign on from your home or office for an online, live (real-time), interactive tutoring session. You and your tutor will be able to

• Chat in real-time.
• Markup the document using drawing tools.
• Edit the text of the document together.

 

To Schedule a Digital Tutoring Session

To schedule a tutoring session with the OWL, make an appointment by coming to the Writing Lab in person, calling the Writing Lab at (940) 565-2563, or emailing the Writing Lab at WritingLab@unt.edu. When making your appointment, please provide the following information:

• UNT Student ID #
• The time and date you want to schedule your session
• The class for which you are writing the paper
• A digital copy of the paper you wish to go over with the tutor
• A list of questions or writing issues you want to discuss with the tutor

Keep in mind that we require you to make an appointment 24 hours in advance, so please schedule early!

We must have the digital copy of your document 24 hours in advance so that the tutor can read it before the tutoring session.

 

At the Time of Your Tutoring Session

• Be sure your email is open.
• Wait for an email from the tutor with whom you will be working. This email will contain a link to your meeting room at ShowDocument.com.
• Click on the link and the session will open. You will see your document and a greeting in the chat box from a tutor.
• Be sure to actively participate in your tutoring session by asking questions and giving feedback to the tutor. Remember, tutors cannot proofread documents.
