Addressing IMLS Priorities and Criteria

This proposal addresses the first two priorities for the Research and Demonstration Category of Funding of the National Leadership Grants for Libraries Program. As a result of this project, library services and resources will be made more available through the use of current and emerging technologies. The specific technologies addressed are appropriately configured and implemented Z39.50 products, and improved local information retrieval systems for library catalogs. The use of these technologies will position libraries for more effective resource sharing.

The second priority addresses library users and their effective access and use of information resources. Z39.50 systems allow users to search and retrieve across a range of resources. Through this project, these Z39.50 systems can be tested and assessed for improved search and retrieval for end users.

The following sections respond to the specific criteria for the National Leadership Grants.
