The B.S. in Chemistry degree is certified by the American Chemical Society, and is designed primarily for students planning to pursue advanced graduate studies or to seek employment in private industry or in a government laboratory.
The undergraduate chemistry programs at the University of North Texas provide many opportunities beyond formal classroom instruction. Students can perform independent research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Many of our undergraduate students have co-authored research publications resulting from their undergraduate research, and many have gone on to graduate studies at top research universities.
Cutting-edge research and innovative coursework make UNT an ideal place to pursue a Master of Science degree in Chemistry.
From designing new optoelectronic or pharmaceutical materials to reducing toxic emissions and the invention of new clean fuels, our combination of internationally recognized faculty members and state-of-the-art facilities has provided alumni with the tools needed to thrive and succeed in the job market.
The Graduate Track Pathway leading to M.S. in Chemistry is designed to offer early provisional admission to well-prepared UNT undergraduate students. This pathway will provide the opportunity for qualified UNT undergraduate students to first earn a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and then progress on the path towards a Masters (M.S.) degree in Chemistry. The student can take a maximum of 6 credit hours of graduate courses while the student is completing the BS degree. These credits will be counted towards both the BS and M.S. degrees.
This program puts you on the fast track toward a Master's (M.S.) degree in chemistry and provides outstanding preparation for students planning to eventually pursue a Ph.D. Earning an advanced degree in chemistry prepares you to be a leader in the scientific and technological advances that will bring us a better future. M.S. and Ph.D. graduates are valued for their knowledge of advanced subject material and, especially, for their research skills and experience.
Recent alumni of UNT's chemistry graduate program have received positions at world-class companies and institutions, including:
