UNT ensembles include six choral ensembles, two orchestras and seven wind bands. These ensembles regularly appear in concert programs throughout the year and performances at various state, national and international events.</p>
<p>Faculty members are experienced professionals who've worked with a wide array of ensembles worldwide, ranging from the Southeast Asian Youth Wind Ensemble in Bangkok, Thailand to groups in Austria, China, Great Britain and South Korea, among others.</p></why-earn-this><this-program-will-teach-you-label/><this-program-will-teach-you><ul>

</ul></this-program-will-teach-you><program-highlights-label/><program-highlights-1>UNT has a long and distinguished history of preparing choral conductors for the challenges of the professional conductor/teacher.</program-highlights-1><program-highlights-2>Our faculty members are dedicated teachers and nationally and internationally known performers who have performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Minnesota Opera Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra and many others.</program-highlights-2><program-highlights-3>We're one of the nation's most comprehensive music colleges and offer opportunities to meet some of the world's top music scholars and artists through specialized lectures and events hosted by various divisions in the college.</program-highlights-3><program-highlights-4>Being near Dallas and Fort Worth gives students additional performance opportunities including those with the Dallas Bach Society, Texas Camerata, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra and symphony orchestras in Irving, Plano and Richardson.</program-highlights-4><program-highlights-5>Our facilities include the Murchison Performing Arts Center, which houses the Winspear PerformanceHall and the Lyric Theater. Both performance halls, as well as the center's large rehearsal space, have state-of-the-art acoustics.</program-highlights-5><program-highlights-6>The College of Music has a rich tradition in music and is attended by talented musicians from all over the world.</program-highlights-6><career-outlook-label>What Can You Do With A Degree in Conducting Performance?</career-outlook-label><career-outlook><p> </p></career-outlook><courses-label/><course-title-1>Choral Techniques (3 hrs)</course-title-1><course-description-1>Choral organizations, singing, conducting, performing, repertoire and history. Actual experience in a model a cappella choir.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Advanced Instrumental Conducting (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2>Exercises to develop coordination of mind and hands; techniques of noted conductors; musical terms; score reading and actual conducting.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Advanced Score Reading and Interpretation (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>Analysis of works of various styles and periods to determine interpretive dimensions, rehearsal and baton techniques. Conducting experience provided with performing organizations. Course content varies each term/semester.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Advanced Choral Conducting (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Class is organized as an a cappella choir for performance practice; manipulating the group and the music.</course-description-4><course-title-5>History of Opera (3 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5>In-depth examination, at the graduate level, of selected topics in the history of opera.</course-description-5><course-title-6>Conducting (1-5 hrs)</course-title-6><course-description-6><span>Master’s-level applied music, private lessons.
