<p>In the Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL), we teach you how to successfully manage all financial aspects of a firm, understand its regulatory rules and realize how it fits into the financial market.</p>

Idea of investment value; necessary prerequisites for an investment program; policies; economic and industry factors; introduction to security analysis and valuation; operation of security markets; security laws.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Financial Markets and Institutions (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2>Studies in the operations, mechanics and structure of the U.S. financial system. Topics include commercial banking, non-bank financial institutions, money and capital markets, the impact of monetary policy on financial institutions and markets, and an introduction to the international financial system.</course-description-2><course-title-3>International Finance (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>International and regional financial institutions and arrangements; balance of payments, theory, adjustments and impact on world trade; role of commercial and central banks in financing international flow; financing exports and imports; the instruments and markets of foreign exchange; determination of exchange rates.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Valuation and Financial Decisions (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Applies the concepts of risk, return and diversification to standard capital budgeting problems. Students are introduced to basic option valuation and to the use of options and futures contracts for hedging purposes. There is a discussion of the implications of market efficiency and agency problems on corporate decisions.
