<p>The program’s goal is to provide general educational preparation for students planning to enter the information profession. The minor’s objectives are for students to demonstrate knowledge and skills related to:</p>
<ul>
<li>The roles and impact of information policies, practices, and information itself on diverse populations in a rapidly changing technological and global information society.</li>
<li>Human information needs and behavior in order to develop and implement information systems and services that meet user needs.</li>
<li>Professional practices necessary to succeed in information-related occupations, and to pursue the professional master's degree.</li>
<li>The philosophy, principles, and legal and ethical responsibilities of the field.</li>
</ul>
<p>While pursuing your degree, you will hone the skills required to:</p>

<li>Apply the latest tools and technologies to the ever-increasing volume of information</li>

Addresses questions about how users interact with information retrieval (IR) systems, their components, evaluation and their impact in society. The issues of representation, the nature of the query, and other aspects of the system are examined.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Introduction to Metadata for Information Organization (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2>Introduction to representation and organization of different kinds of information resources using various forms of metadata. Introduction to examination and use of key metadata schemes, data and content standards, and tools for representing and organizing information resources in the digital environment.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Information Technology Management (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>Basic concepts of information and its role in an information society. Includes mechanisms of information processing, information transfer, and applications of computers and other information tools in various disciplines and fields.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Information Science Seminar (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Supervised individual or group work on current issues of modern technology and information science.</course-description-4><course-title-5>Information Indexing and Organizing (3 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5>Applications in different types of information systems of text documents, images or audio files. Use of database retrieval software to store and represent information. Indexing formulation, automatic programming, and design for user support.
