People with kinesiology backgrounds are involved in teaching, coaching, allied health, ergonomics and health and wellness. Depending on the specialization, career options include:</p>
<p>A Bachelor of Science with a major in kinesiology shows that you are committed to best practices within the field of human movement and wellness. By choosing the general track, you have a wide latitude for choice of studies within your major.</p>
<p>You'll learn from faculty members who've been recognized for their teaching and research by the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America), the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport. In some upper-level course curricula, we incorporate training and research opportunities, possibly as part of a community outreach program.</p>
<p>Past outreach projects have involved designing and implementing physical activity lesson plans for Denton area children with disabilities and teaching physical activity to children in Denton area schools.</p></why-earn-this><this-program-will-teach-you-label/><this-program-will-teach-you><ul>

<p>Many of our students pursue graduate opportunities in exercise physiology or sports psychology.</p></career-outlook><courses-label/><course-title-1>Human Anatomy and Physiology I Laboratory (1 hr)</course-title-1><course-description-1>Laboratory studies examining the functional anatomy and physiology of the human body including cell morphology, tissue histology, musculoskeletal anatomy and nervous system anatomy.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Introduction to Kinesiology (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2>Survey of the foundations underlying the scientific basis of kinesiology. Units include curricula, historical, philosophical, sociological, psychological, physiological, biomechanical, pedagogical and motor behavioral components essential to the study of kinesiology. Students are introduced to the skills and knowledge required to become a successful practitioner, researcher or teacher in the psychomotor domain. Students are expected to complete this course prior to enrolling in kinesiology core courses.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Sociology of Sport(3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>Study of social behavior in sport with particular emphasis on its relationship to the cultural perspectives of socialization, minorities, economics, politics and current issues.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Psychology of Sport (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Survey of the literature concerning the relationship of psychological processes and motor performance. Topics include motivation, communication, anxiety management, youth sports, concentration, confidence and group dynamics.</course-description-4><course-title-5>Physiological Bases of Exercise and Sport (3 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5>Applied physiology course of study including bioenergetics, neuromuscular factors, and cardiovascular and pulmonary dynamics during exercise.
