Content is relevant to the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Consumer Health Advocacy (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2>Examines an analysis and appraisal of issues related to the production and distribution of products and services as they affect consumer health. The role of the health educator as a consumer advocate is explored.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Health Promotion in the Corporate Setting (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>Presents the importance of promoting health in a corporate setting. Students are introduced to planning and implementing a comprehensive health promotion program in a corporate setting.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Environmental Community Health (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Examines the nature and complexity of environmental health issues including specific health problems associated with environmental health.</course-description-4><course-title-5>Chronic Disease Prevention and Management (3 hrs)This course reviews the physiological, social, and behavioral research related to the prevention and management of lifestyle related chronic diseases including</course-title-5><course-description-5>obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, through nutrition and physical activity.</course-description-5><course-title-6>Health Promotion: Development and Application of Presentation Skill (3 hrs)</course-title-6><course-description-6>Introduction to communication theories, methods of behavior change (behavior and social science theories), marketing/social marketing models, mass communication theories and persuasive presentation concepts.
