However, they have common themes of examining music as a set of texts and as a reflection of social practices. Courses are available that focus on Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, 19th- and 20th-century and Latin American music.</p>

</ul></this-program-will-teach-you><program-highlights-label/><program-highlights-1>International study abroad programs can provide you with an array of learning experiences. We collaborate with institutions and scholars in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America for these opportunities.</program-highlights-1><program-highlights-2>The Graduate Association of Musicologists und Theorists (GAMuT) is an active group of our graduate students who organize an annual academic conference, publish the journal <em>Harmonia</em>, and host regular professional development meetings, faculty and student research presentations and social gatherings.</program-highlights-2><program-highlights-3>Positions as teaching fellows and teaching assistants are available and allow you to gain hands-on experience. Teaching fellows usually teach two classes a week, while teaching assistants contribute to a class taught by a professor through technical management or lab-teaching and review.</program-highlights-3><program-highlights-4>Musicology students have collaborated in editing works by Claudio Monteverdi, which have been published by the distinguished German publisher Bärenreiter.</program-highlights-4><program-highlights-5/><program-highlights-6/><career-outlook-label>What Can You Do With A Degree in Musicology?</career-outlook-label><career-outlook><p>Many of our graduates have successful careers as professors or lecturers at colleges and universities in Texas, the U.S. and abroad. Others work with music publishers or in large research libraries.</p></career-outlook><courses-label/><course-title-1>Introduction to Musicology (3 hrs)</course-title-1><course-description-1>Topics include critical assessment of current issues, methodologies and themes in musicological research.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Music in Latin America (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2>This course is an examination of selected topics in the history of music by Latin American composers. Topics vary by term/semester.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Music in the United States (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>This course is an examination of selected topics in the history of music in the United States.
