<p>Our accelerated online Texas Principal as Instructional Leader certification program focuses on the skills required for campus-level and central office administration. We help prepare candidates for the Texas Examination of Education Standards (TExES) for a principal certification.</p></why-earn-this><this-program-will-teach-you-label/><this-program-will-teach-you/><program-highlights-label/><program-highlights-1>The program has available start dates in January, March, June, August, and October for a total of five opportunities each year.</program-highlights-1><program-highlights-2>The courses in this program are offered as part of the Accelerated Online Program with all classes in the 8-week format except for the internship in educational leadership, which is a full semester.</program-highlights-2><program-highlights-3>You'll learn about curriculum and instruction; education law; resource management; differentiation to promote the success of all students; approaches for working well with parents and the community; and methods for building human capacity and positive school culture.</program-highlights-3><program-highlights-4>The courses include many opportunities for practical application, and the internship in educational leadership gives you hands-on experience in school leadership and management.</program-highlights-4><program-highlights-5>The program focuses on the skills required for campus-level and central office administration. We help prepare candidates for the Texas Examination of Education Standards (TExES) for a principal certification.</program-highlights-5><program-highlights-6>Earn your Texas Principal as Instructional Leader certification in less than one year.</program-highlights-6><career-outlook-label/><career-outlook/><courses-label/><course-title-1>Organizational Change and School Improvement (3 hrs)</course-title-1><course-description-1>School change and improvement from the perspectives of classical/rational organizational theory, open systems theory, contingency theory, and social systems theories. Content includes research on school change and school improvement, strategic planning, effects of major reform initiatives in the 1980s and 1990s, and the development of the literature review in a research study.</course-description-1><course-title-2>Instructional Leadership (3 hrs)</course-title-2><course-description-2>Study of instructional leadership as it relates to the improvement of instruction, effective schools, and ongoing effective program delivery by personnel. Areas to be explored and discussed include significant and recent research and best practices of instructional leadership, learning theory, the change process, school climate and culture, effective teaching methods, and the relationship of instruction to curriculum.</course-description-2><course-title-3>Educational Leadership Applications (3 hrs)</course-title-3><course-description-3>Comprehensive view of educational leadership with an emphasis on the application of leadership competencies.</course-description-3><course-title-4>Professional Development and Supervision (3 hrs)</course-title-4><course-description-4>Provides students with the knowledge, interpersonal skills, and technical skills to supervise human resource activities at the building level. Students learn how to implement models of hiring, appraisal, developmental supervision, clinical supervision, and coaching.</course-description-4><course-title-5>Administration of the K–12 Curriculum (3 hrs)</course-title-5><course-description-5>Examines the interaction among curriculum, instruction, and assessment at site, district, and national levels. Theoretical knowledge, as well as site and district-based curricular projects, are included.</course-description-5><course-title-6>Campus-Level School Law (3 hrs)</course-title-6><course-description-6>Provides an understanding of important constitutional, statutory, administrative, and case law as it pertains to the everyday operation of schools in Texas. Students learn the legal framework within which schooling takes place and how it structures the decisions that campus administrators make.
